About the Artist
Sonya Watson's love affair with nature began early in life. Growing up in California at the foot of The Sierras, the rivers and trees would have a great affect on the work she would ultimately create.
Sonya and her husband Tom spent two years on the island of Grenada in the West Indies at the beginning of their marriage and they then moved to Miami for two years. Sonya and her husband currently make their home in Eustis, (Central Florida).
The experience of living close to the ocean is expressed in several of her current collections. Sonya uses precious and semi precious stones, found objects, ancient artifacts, silver, copper and leather to create her statement pieces.
Sonya's most recent Collections:
What the Mermaid Wore and Divas of the Deep, as well as, Atlantis evoke the sea and thoughts of Mermaids adorning themselves with objects found in the depths.
Each piece is one of a kind and made by hand in Sonya's studio. Sonya Watson's Studio/Gallery is in Mount Dora, Florida. It is inside Every Nook and Cranny Gallery at 334 N. Donnelly in Mount Dora's historic district.
